Love for mothers on the wane, says Mayor
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Reverence and love for mothers are on the decline in the present generation, the Mayor, J. Chandra, has said.
She was speaking after inaugurating the `Easwaramba' Day observance organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust here on Saturday.
Prof. Chandra said that one should always think of one's mother as love for the mother is the most exalted of affections.
"I have the habit of paying obeisance to my mother every day", she said.
The chief guest at the function, Mariamma Oommen Chandy, wife of the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, said a mother loves her child without expecting anything in return. For the same reason, one should never hurt one's mother.
Ms. Chandy said she remembered her mother in all her prayers every day.
Easwaramba' Day is observed by Sai devotees in connection with the death anniversary of Sai Baba's mother, Easwaramba.
A `Mathrupooja', worship of the mother, was also conducted by children under the supervision of the Balavikas zonal coordinator of the Sathya Sai Seva Samithi.
