Your child too can be a super achiever

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Few of us realise that Leonardo Da Vinci or Albert Einstein, if still alive, were likely to have been termed `slow learners' and persons `unlikely to make it to the top league'.

But despite his trouble in writing, reading or arithmetic, Da Vinci went on to become a world renowned poet, sculptor, musician, painter, architect, engineering, botanist, physiologist and astronomer. Einstein became one of the greatest scientific minds of the 20th century.

President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam emerged from a remote village in Tamil Nadu, to become the country's First Citizen.

Contrast this with the scenario today. Children are expected to do the best in everything. Parents often wonder as to how their children will face competition in life.

However, scientific data shows learning anything — math, science or language — can be an exciting and stimulating activity. "Certain truths and facts in science can be so absorbing that they actually kindle and inspire children to learn more," says Madhan, of HI Madhan fame.

He feels that children and parents need guidance, direction and sharing of information on global trends in education and parenting.

Children require communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills and taught social values like love for family and patriotism.

Mr. Madhan will be addressing students of standard I to VIII, and their parents at a seminar: `How to make your child a super achiever' at Karnataka Sangha Auditorium on Habibullah Road, T. Nagar on June 25 (5.30 p.m.).

This is part of seven seminars being held all over the State by Aspire Superkidz. Parents and schools can collect free entry passes from their nearest Aspire Superkidz centre. For details contact: 2834 1086 or 98403 47477.
