A SHOW that is highly recommended especially for connoisseurs of pre-independence art is Poetry and Patriotic Fervour going on at Delhi Art Gallery. The show exhibits paintings and prints, termed as masterpieces in the realm of art by eminent artists like Raja Ravi Verma, Sailoz Mukherjee, Jamini Roy, Chitoprasad, Amrita Shergil, Rabindranath Tagore. On till May 19.

FOR lovers of Indian classical dance, Oopali Operajita performs an Odissi recital at the Habitat World at 7 p.m. on May 5.

She has received her training under the tutelage of Kelucharan Mahapatra and Debaprasad Das and has been performing both Bharatanatyam and Odissi for a number of years now.

SUMMER has arrived and to celebrate the first nuances of the season The Village Gallery at Hauz Khas Village brings forth a show titled "Summer Show of the Village Gallery Collection" showcasing the works of artists including Sunil Das, Maniklal Chaterjee, Shipra Bhattacharya, Paritosh Sen, Gopal Sanyal and lithographs of M.F. Hussain. The show continues from May 1-31.

THE Visual Arts Gallery, IHC is the venue for an exhibition of photographs by Amit Pasricha titled "Lens as Guru". The images incline towards the intellectual and spiritual with layers of insights. The exhibition also carries the Heritage Series of Panoramic images of Delhi's monuments. The show is on view from May 8-15.

THE artist's group Feb7 showcase their recent works of paintings and sculptures at the Lalit Kala Akademi from April 29 to May 5. The participating artists include talents like Gurmeet, Vicky, Arya and Indu Rana.

NATSAMRAT presents a hilarious comedy by Shyam Kumar called "Kauwa Chale Hans ki Chal" on May 4 at 7 pm at the LTG Auditorium, Copernicus Marg.

TO commemorate Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary, a group from Kolkata called the Mamata Shankar Ballet Troupe presents his works in a dance form titled "Chandalika". The performance will take place at the Habitat World at 7pm on May 10.

FILM buffs can enjoy the screening of "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell, eminent art historian who has worked extensively on Indian mythology. The film talks about a breezy romance in 12th Century and, as the film progresses, certain relevant questions are raised about the image of woman as a goddess, virgin, Mother Earth. The film will be screened at the Habitat World on May 6 at 7 p.m.
