Candid account
SANDEEP SAXENA
WHEN LEILA SETH decided that she would write her autobiography, she also made up her mind to be "completely honest". Seth said that being honest "was not an easy decision. But I felt that, unless I am, there is no point in writing". Seth has had many firsts in her eminent career.
The first woman to top the Bar exam, the first woman Chief Justice of a High Court, Seth has always been an exemplary example of dignity. She is candid enough to admit that after the publication of her book life has been rather "disconcerting" though, for each member of the family, the autobiography has been a process of discovery. And though she is ready to do "anything for her children", she has tried to keep her own interests. "When people praised me I was a little embarrassed, but when they praise my children I just lap it all up," said a proud Seth.
