Talking about talent
THE HINDU PHOTO LIBRARY
HE'S a man of few words. Fewer still when you ask him about his take on music. A.R. RAHMAN would rather let his music do the talking. Except that he realises that for a celebrity itm is essential to provide the right sound bytes. Talking about his latest venture, to provide the musical score for the "Lord of the Rings", West End version, Rahman said that, unlike "Bombay Dreams" where he was left to himself to create the musical score, here he had been given a brief and was expected to deliver accordingly. Not that he's complaining. "It's challenging," said Rahman, "to be able to work within the confines and be able to give them exactly what they want."
Despite his hectic schedule with Bollywood, Rahman, who is also part of the talent hunt shows that have recently swamped television, feels that these shows should be encouraged because they let in new talent.
