Matchless fragrance
As a lifelong user of sandal soap, I enjoyed reading "The old faithful" (August 20). The matchless aroma of sandalwood can hold its own against any rivals, its connection with religion being incidental. The author should be called a joint brand ambassador along with Dhoni. If this results in a great boost in the sale of MSS, the author is entitled to a handsome royalty.

V. Gangadhar's article brings out the fragrance of sandal in its varied forms in the writer's inimitable style. The fragrance of sandal paste permeates much of our religious ethos. No wonder sandal occupies such an important position.

If a reader decides to try Mysore Sandal Soap, it may be more due to V. Gangadhar's "Slice of Life" than to M.S. Dhoni's advertisement on TV.

Gangadhar's article made good reading. Sandal has been part of Indian tradition for many years. His comparison with other local and multinational brands was interesting. In spite of many brands entering the market, Mysore Sandal has held its place in the market.
