No ignoring him

KARAN JOHAR is foxed. With the release of his new blockbuster "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna", Johar had expected the cash registers to ring. But what he did not bargain for was the incredible amount of controversy his film's characters and their decisions have generated. Even as Johar went on to clarify that he was not advocating marital infidelity or walkouts, there were instances of couples either agreeing to end their marital vows or, in more gruesome cases, ending lives. A pained Johar said, "I am shocked. This is not the intention of the film. I am just discussing, through my film, a possibility, a way out of a unhappy situation." While critics have praised the "happy-ending happy family" filmmaker for his mature and sensitive handling of a contemporary theme, audiences continue to battle out the odds. But one thing is certain: love it or loathe it, you cannot ignore it.
