Reading and reviews
This has reference to "The Decline Of The Book Review" by Nilanjana S. Roy (August 27). Many reviewers don't bother to leaf through the book. In some cases, the reviewer is governed by personal grudges. Most reviews are reflections of the likes and dislikes of the reviewer instead of honest reflection of the book.

I read Nilanjana S. Roy's article with wistfulness. As a student in the 1970s, I was a voracious reader, and much of my reading was decided by book reviews in various magazines. Book reviews are useful to many like me who would like to know more about books and writers.
