Environmental balance

"Blame game" (September 24) highlights the absence of interest in maintaining environmental balance. Humans are mainly responsible for large-scale deforestation. Nature has an agenda for creation of all species but human actions are knowingly or unknowingly poised to defeat these intentions.

C.P. Velayudhyan,
North Edappally, Kerala

In our eagerness to achieve rapid financial growth, we are forgetting that the so-called progress for mankind is often detrimental to ecology. Indiscriminate deforestation has had a bad effect on the population of wild animals. We cannot have an exclusive world of factories and other industrial constructions. This world is for all of Nature's creations alike and mankind cannot manipulate the entire resources for its own development.

O.Balakrishnan Nair
Vellinazhi, Kerala.
