Not the spirit of Gandhi

I completely endorse the critique of "The Eternal Gandhi" show by Shakti Maira (October 1). The hi-tech scene, with various gizmos at "Eternal Gandhi", failed to capture the spirit of his life. "Bapu Kutir" in Sevagram comes much closer in preserving the ashram as it was. Even the Sound and Light show at Red Fort does a better job of creating an experience of a different era.

Shakti Maira's critical note on the "Eternal Gandhi" exhibition in New Delhi raises many questions. The solemn and silent grandeur of Gandhi Smriti should be maintained as it is. The charkas cannot be demeaned to the level of electronically projected images. I am deeply shocked and pained that this is happening in New Delhi. It is time that we raised our voice against this unpardonable, avoidable deconstruction of the Mahatma's legacy.
