Whose road?
Madhu Gurung's article "Right to road" (October 8) about the plight of rickshaw men of Delhi made sad reading. Is the privileged automobile owner to have the right to the road? The poor always have to sacrifice their livelihood whenever there is talk of development. The government should make alternate arrangements for the poor rickshawallahs.

The article shows Ravi's wrong priorities. He should champion the cause of the humans who are pulling the rickshaws. Further a slow moving rickshaw and a fast moving car cannot ply on the same road.

The article clearly depicts that India is a land of contrasts. Most modern vehicles coexist with the oldest form of vehicles drawn by men and animals. The presence of cycle rickshaws only shows the growth of urban poverty and lack of other suitable employment among the masses.
