Trial by media

Apropos "Remember Gudiya" (November 19), the electronic media created havoc by playing up a family fracas. This invasion of media into the personal lives of common people is pernicious. Media campaigns in cases like the murders of Jessica Lal, Priyadarshini, Nitish Katara may be praiseworthy, as there was political interference. What we now need is a campaign to alert people to the side effects of the media.

Kalpana Sharma's article was practical and based on logic. There are thousands of people waiting for justice but they are disappointed due to the slow process of law. The media can highlight such cases. To focus on a few cases involving big names doesn't make any sense. Obviously this is meant to make money by giving sensational news.
