Follow in his footsteps
"Eco Vision" (December 3) is an eye-opener. Bus conductor, M. Yoganathan, has established beyond doubt that he is way different from the rest. Clearly any person, irrespective of official or social status, can serve society. I hope the article serves as a catalyst to others.

The one-man army of M. Yoganathan has achieved an astonishing feat of planting 20,000 trees and spreading the message of conservation. If a bus conductor could muster the cooperation of colleges, public-minded individuals and others, why cannot government agencies emulate his example in the preservation of Mother Nature?

Yogananthan is to be praised and should be given encouragement and help in his wonderful mission. Nature was my teacher, said Wordsworth. The philosopher J. Krishnamurti, told teachers to take the children to the bounties of Nature. The children are the right persons to be taught about the values of Nature.

It is truly heartening to hear of M.Yoganathan's yeoman service. In a world where people are predominantly self-serving, it is inspirational to have people like him who make a contribution in saving and serving Nature for the generations to come. I only hope GenNext is inspired to follow in his footsteps and help make a difference to Mother Earth.
