Immortal music

In her tribute to unparalleled artiste late M.S. Subbulakshmi ("The magic in her voice" December 10), Lakshmi Vishwanathan has expressed the need to take significant steps to keep her mellifluous music, a symbol of peace and harmony, alive for the next generation. M.S was an artiste consumed by her fierce passion for quality. And that rare trait, which made her music immortal, is worth emulating by everyone in all walks of life.

Ranipet

The immortal voice of M.S. Subbulakshimi is not only an "unforgettable phenomenon of human experience" but also a call for peace and harmony for music lovers like me. The magical "katrinile varum geetham" echoed in my mind until I finished reading the article.

Kavi Akbardeen,
Thanjavur

Lakshmi Vishwanathan's tribute was in the right perspective. M.S. was not only as "a symbol of peace and harmony", but also proved to be a potent symbol of Indian unity. " After silence", said Aldous Huxley, " that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music". M.S., no doubt, has exemplified this truth
