Incredible feat

With reference to the article on Palak Muchhal ("Mighty heart" January7) it is indeed wonderful that a kid of class ten has such a mighty heart. Compassion and a sense of social responsibility should be cultivated in youngsters; identifying and appreciating their efforts boosts their morale immensly.

Dr. K.L. Mahadevappa,
Mysore

While 14-year-old Palak Muchhal's story is quite fascinating, her picture is absolutely captivating. It is amazing that a little girl from a middle-class family could, at the age of six, think in terms of raising funds for heart surgeries for children. Her achievement is marvellous. The country should be proud of her.

K.D. Viswanaathan,
Coimbatore

Palak Muchhal's efforts to fight heart disease in children deserve to be complimented. That a young girl has helped raise more than Rs.1.20 crores for the cause and has been instrumental in saving 234 precious lives makes it an incredible feat. This teenage prodigy is a source of inspiration and a perfect role model for youngsters.

J. Anantha Padmanabhan,
Srirangam

Though young, Palak has got a tender heart. Her parents must be proud of her and she should also be proud of her parents who never touched the fund to be used for the welfare of the children in distress. Hope she continues with the good work.

Anaimalai, T.N.

The article is a source of inspiration to other children. She is indeed a torchbearer of values for adults too and the government should honour her for her achievementThe fact that she has utilised her voice constructively for a noble cause from such a young age is fabulous indeed.

Dr. S.S. Venkata Subramanian,
Chennai

Palak Muchhal's selfless service for the cause of children fighting heart diseases deserves appreciation. The girl's commitment to the cause and her deeds right from the age of six are sterling and indeed beyond the comprehension of many of the girls of her age. Philanthropists and the kind hearted should come forward and help her to realise her dream of building a hospital to treat the poor and downtrodden children fighting heart diseases.

V. Subashini,
Tiruchi
