Glimmer of hope

This refers to "Dramatic break" (January 21). The unique experiment of making the inmates of a jail act in plays that reflect conventional life made interesting reading. The move would certainly help reform the prisoners and make them feel that they are part of the mainstream. The authorities deserve praise for this venture against all odds.

Such out-of-the-box gestures will help prisoners develop a better vision. The lives of prisoners, marred by pangs of separation and misery, needs revolutionary measures besides course-correction to have meaning and purpose. Or else, ironies of life are bound to reduce them to objects of pity once they come out in the open.
