Naseer's tough talk

IRONIES in life never cease. So when actor-director NASEERUDIN SHAH — the chief guest at the recently launched Independent Indian Filmmakers Worldwide, a body formed to help non-formula filmmakers to come together — announced that he would never again direct a film, audiences were stunned.

Shah who directed "Yun Hota To Kya Hota" said, "after the experiences I went through in making this film I have decided never to direct a film again. I know that a lot of mistakes were made; perhaps I was not good enough."

Fellow filmmaker Ketan Mehta said that he was "very surprised at the statement. Naseerudin is a great source of strength for us and I do know he had a tough time with the film but... " Meanwhile Shah, as is his wont, is keeping his counsel to himself.
