Slim Sami

SINGER ADNAN SAMI is in the news for reasons other than his music. Sami, who has long been identified with not only his fine lyrics but also his incredible weight, suddenly seems to have a new lease of life. Touching the scales at 206 kg, Sami confessed that he had reached a make or break point with his health.

An ultimatum by his father had Sami moving to the U.S. and undergoing treatment for his obesity. "It's as much a disease as alcoholism," said he, now trimmer after having shed 107 kilos. "I went through a bad patch after my divorce and looked to food for comfort. It got to a point when I'd be making excuses to eat more."

The secret of his success at losing weight he said was due to "rigorous diet, exercise and will power. I'm on the treadmill and stuff myself with salads now. I feel resurrected and am much more in control." He's of course hoping to get some fresh music out of his experience too.
