Film foray
HE was supposed to take over his father's mantle. But fate and his actions decreed otherwise and RAHUL MAHAJAN found himself out of the pale of Indian politics. His brush with controversies soon after Pramod Mahajan's death is well documented.
In an attempt to make a clean break and put things behind him, Mahajan has decided to turn to cinema for a livelihood. Striking a philosophical note, Mahajan said that he "did regret some of the past actions but certain things are beyond control. If they have to happen they will. My biggest enemy is time."
He said that the media insisted on projecting him as one born with a golden spoon. That, according to him, was not true. "I have lived life as a middle class boy." Mahajan said that he was now planning to direct a film. "It is something I was going to do when Dad was alive; life changed suddenly. But I am finalising things, zeroing on the script and other production work. It will cost Rs. 5-6 crore."
Asked about funding, he quipped, "Today producers need not finance films. Corporate companies and banks are willing to help, so there are no worries on that score."
