Worthy causes

SHE is one person who hasn’t hidden her antecedents. Instead item girl RAKHI SAWANT, known for her in-your-face statements and provocative dressing, has decided to add yet another worthy cause to her list.

And this time it’s not for animals courtesy PETA, where she was painted into a tigress and prowled about in a cage to attract attention.

Sawant has now decided that the people of her building society could do with some of her “fame and name” and has threatened to sit on a hunger strike if the Mumbai municipal body fails to rectify the flooding patterns repeated year after year.

Said Sawant, “I am not lucky like Shah Rukh Khan to be living in a huge bungalow and can afford to stay cocooned in it. Last year a lot of kids in our building and in this area got malaria because of the stagnant water. Since I have got some name and fame, my building people convinced me to join the morcha.”

Sawant’s learnt the first lesson of the celebrity world right: stay in the news or you’re dead meat.
