Dr.Ravi Samuel’s account of Social Anxiety Disorder, “No Interactions” (September 9), is relevant in today’s context. Fragmentation of joint family system is one of the causes. Previously many functions brought the families/communities together providing vast scope for interaction, consultations. Now we expect to be invited. Attendance is also selective depending on who invited one. The treatment for this disorder can be easily followed. If one can mix freely, unmindful of any fears, one can get rid of SAD.
