Brand Karan Johar

There’s a new role for the director. And someone else is calling the shots. Not that KARAN JOHAR is complaining. “I know I’m not good looking but I’m not camera shy either. If people think I’m good enough for their busin ess, I have no issue,” remarked Johar when asked about his brand endorsements. But Johar’s business acumen is behind this; he explains: “I’m making myself more accessible to audiences. If endorsements and talk shows allow me to grab extra eyeballs, I’m all for it.”

He believes that it is no longer enough to stand behind the camera and remain an unknown face. “Every filmmaker should stand up and take a bow for their work,” he says.

He has also decided to take a break from making only mushy romantic films. “I need to take a break; otherwise people will say that there is nothing else that I can do. But, truth be told, I’m a sucker for romance. I’m really looking forward to ‘Sawariya’, which I hope will bring back the great Bollywood romance.” There’s no escaping love, is there?
