Next number one?

If PRIYANKA CHOPRA is to be believed “life is a series of situations that have happened to me”. The petite actor, being heralded as the next number one in the industry, insists that she did not plan her moves. “I have always left ev erything to God and somehow things have fallen in place. It is all destiny; if it wasn’t for that, I would not be here in the first place,” she said.

While she attributes much of her success to luck, she agrees that hard work cannot be denied. “If I have made a commitment, then I must try and keep it,” she said, recalling certain shoots when she was not 100 per cent fit. “I try not to cancel any shoots.”

Chopra said she had many acquaintances in the industry but no friends. “The people I work and hang around with become great acquaintances, but not friends. I’m here to work, not to make friends.”

And lest she is misunderstood, Chopra quickly clarifies what she means by friends. “People you can ring up at two in the morning. I don’t know anyone like that in the industry.”
