The show at London
From September 13, 2007, to April 6, 2008, the British Museum, London, plays host to the terracotta army from China. “The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army” is an exhibition that highlights one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the last century and also looks at the historical legacy of Qin Shihuangdi, the first to rule all of China. Preparing for life after death, China’s first emperor created an entire army of terracotta warriors to protect his strategic interests. These warriors, horses and all the accoutrements of an army were buried along with Emperor Qin in his tomb at Xi’an. Emperor Qin was also responsible for creating the political entity of China way back in 221 B.C. The growth, development and survival of the world’s oldest surviving political entity will also be a feature of this exhibition. For more details www.britishmuseum.org
