Fine example
With reference to “In the service of the poor” (Magazine, December 16), it is heartening to see the unity and sense of togetherness displayed by Kaliappan, Mani and others to ensure that alms-seekers do not go to bed hungry. Further, their plans to set up an old age home needs to be appreciated by citizens who care for the welfare of the society. This act of generosity is a fine example which every Indian should emulate.

Thiruvananthapuram,
Love and concern for our fellow beings is a must for every individual. Charity begins at home. This aspect of the article is very inspiring. In this modern hectic world every individual should become a means to eradicate poverty. Let a new India arise from the neglected or ignored masses.

The service rendered by a group of people in feeding the alms-seekers in Coimbatore is commendable. That they have been doing this for four years without any publicity and purely on a voluntary basis makes the service all the more greater. It is heartening that money comes from kind-hearted people. Kaliappan, the prime architect, and his team deserve appreciation for showing the way in serving the destitute.
