This year too is no different and Hussain is all primed to be playing with his brother Taufiq Qureshi and sitarist Niladri Kumar.

“I am really looking forward to this,” he said. “Each year is a different experience and the audience here is not just receptive but also appreciative of music and its subtle nuances.”

Like all musicians today, Zakir Hussain too finds himself globe-trotting most of the time. But he makes sure that there is “quality time” for the family. “They keep me grounded and absolutely fresh.”

Meanwhile he’s looking forward to jamming with some great musicians along the way.
