Romance with films

SUCHITRA BEHAL

Actor AAMIR KHAN isn’t a diplomatic person. Known to speak his mind, he seldom minces words.

So when there was a mild outburst from his well wishers about his smoking, he grinned and said, “good. It means they love me”. Of course his kids have also protested and he has decided “to give it up. I am determined to give it up.”

Awaiting bouquets or brickbats for his recent directorial venture, Khan said, “I really cannot differentiate between the roles of an actor or a producer or director.”

But he is certain about his great romance with films. “Once I get into a project or a film I cannot get out of it. Everything else is out of focus, even my family. That is the way I am; work fires me up.”

How does it feel to direct oneself? “That is tricky but possible,” replied Khan.

In typical Khan speak, he adds, “I am not bothered with who is number one, who makes how much money and all that. I am more interested in what makes me happy. That is my priority.”
