There’s a new “Balan” on the block. Actor VIDYA BALAN appears more than different. Gone is the girl-next-door look and the shy diffidence. In place is a glossier toned version brimming with self-assurance. The reason? “I’ve learnt to handle the chock-a-bloc schedule now. I experimented a lot in 2007; did a lot of different roles. Most importantly I’m less guarded now. It’s like when you’re introduced to something new you take time to settle down. I’m much more comfortable in the industry and a lot more assertive now.”
Meanwhile Balan is savouring the success of her most recent release “Halla Bol”. Said Balan, “I chose to do this role because the film talks of a prevalent issue I think this film gave me a chance to uphold those values that are close to me.” Balan agrees that with this film she is being noticed as an actor to contend with.
Typically she adds, laughingly, “I hope I’ll now be able to raise my fee and ask for a bigger pay cheque.”
Another plus, according to her, is that the media is now looking at her work and not those romantic link-ups.
