This refers to T.S.Subramanian’s “The vandalisation of heritage” (February 10). Dr.Shulman’s plea to preserve the old paintings on the walls and the inner ceiling of the temples needs to be addressed by the authorities. I have seen the paintings in Chithannavasal near Pudukkottai fading away till they are almost invisible. The ancient paintings on the walls and the ceiling of the Ranganayaki Thayar Sannidhi at Srirangam are fading due to time and adverse climatic conditions.
