With reference to “Politics of sports” (February 24), I endorse the writer’s view that sports has become a matter of politics. Politics has not even kept the spirit of Olympics alive. Steven Spielberg’s withdrawal over Darfur region crisis has affected China so much so that they have called Spielberg ‘naive’ who has betrayed the spirit of China. The Olympics has begun with a political controversy. Let’s see whether the spirit of games can rise over the political overtones.
