Deepika Padukone

SUCHITRA BEHAL

Her first film was a blockbuster. His didn’t do too well at the box office. She is everybody’s new heartthrob. But that hasn’t stopped the romance from blooming for Bollywood’s latest star, Deepika Padukone. In a surprisingly candid manner, Padukone, when asked about her “romance” with actor Ranbir Kapoor, said that they were both “meant to be together”. And before this is dismissed as yet another Bollywood prank, Padukone blushed and revealed that both the families were ecstatic over the young couple’s friendship. “We always got along well but it was at a later shoot when we were together for a month that we started seeing each other,” said Padukone. “We were also brought up in a very grounded manner. Our parents instilled a sense of responsibility in us and that has seen us both through and perhaps why we get along so well.” And though work may pull them apart, Padukone, a true believer in destiny, said, “If two people are meant to be together they will be so, no matter what happens.” Faith they say, can move mountains.
