Mallika Sarabhai

SUCHITRA BEHAL

Her earliest memories of the film world are none too pleasant. But danseuse Mallika Sarabhai is now actually looking forward to re-establishing some connection with an industry that she didn’t quite approve of. Sarabhai, who is currently busy l earning to write a script, said that she would be co-directing a film on a book. “I cannot say anything more except that I’m co-directing the venture. Yes, I will definitely play a role in it and we are in talks with mainstream actors too.” Sarabhai said she loved Hindi films and now, with “so many more intelligent films being made and more and more educated people in the business, I would love to do something.” She said she was open to discussing roles as well as directing. When asked about how she would juggle her time between dance and film, Sarabhai, quoting her late father said, “If you want to follow your passion, then learn to stretch time.”
