Fitting tribute

The article “Hiroshima forges ahead” by Sadhana Rao is a grim reminder of the mindless destruction that can be caused by atom bombs. The practice of folding cranes and sending them to children’s peace memorial will continue to stir poignant memories of persons affected by radiation. Many historians aver that there was no need to drop theatom bombs on Japan as part of war effort as the fall of Japan was imminent and it was about to surrender in a few days. It was rather an experiment by the U.S. to test the devastating effect of its newfound weapon. The fitting tribute to the lost lives in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be total abolition of all atomic weapons, and complete nuclear disarmament.
