Self discovery

BY SUCHITRA BEHAL

The chocolate boy looks are gone. Instead there is a new, studied seriousness that exudes a different confidence. Has Shahid Kapur finally grown up? “Well I guess I’m a lot more comfortable with me. An actor once said that it takes 10 fil ms for any actor to discover himself and I’ve done that. Yes, I know there are still a lot of areas to be ironed out but I’m getting there,” says this affable young man. He insists that he is now more careful while accepting a project. “Earlier, I rushed into things specially because I wanted to work with certain directors. Now I vet my scripts and really take a long and hard look at them. I am also careful not to repeat the characters I play,” says he. A great believer in destiny, he says, “Whatever has to happen will happen; we only get what is destined for us and you only get the opportunities that life plans to give you; it’s up to you to grab them and make the most of it.”
