Ask her about the logic behind her branding and she struggles to come up with an answer. But then Mallika Sherawat is unfazed. “Oh you’d better ask my lawyer. It’s really his idea, which my limited Haryanvi brain cannot figure out.”
By her own admission, she is as obsessed with dental hygiene as she is with being vegan or the kind of roles she picks. “It’s a conscious decision to take on roles and scripts that I would love to enjoy doing. Stories and roles are more important than co-stars but that is not to say that there are no people whose work I admire and respect.”
Sherawat is one of the few Indian actors who has managed her portfolio rather professionally. “I have no problems with anyone,” said she, “my publicist decides what is good and where I have to make an appearance I just follow her advice.”
And if that is all it takes to be in the right place, she has certainly done a good job of it.
