Every mother deserves to be and feel beautiful and a “mommy makeover” is a perfect answer to make those ideal figures a reality. By combining post-pregnancy plastic surgery, cellulite removal, body and breast lift procedures, and skin therapy, you can get back the youthful appearance you thought was gone forever.
There are many factors to consider before undergoing a “makeover” such as your current health and lifestyle, the areas of your body you want to target, and how post-pregnancy plastic surgery will affect your family life. If you have lost weight after your pregnancy but cannot reverse stubborn pockets of fat and sagging skin, you are probably a good candidate for cosmetic procedures.
It is also important to remember that a makeover isn’t just for recent moms; some women wait for some years before treating themselves. If you are too busy right now, consider waiting until your children are a little older. You and your doctor can decide how many and what kind of procedures you want to include and develop realistic expectations for your results.
Though the breast and tummy procedures are most commonly requested, there are a few other procedures depending on the patient’s requirements. Common procedures include:
Tummy tuck
This is an invasive surgical procedure; a complete tummy tuck is a two to five hour procedure. Immediately following surgery, the incisions are dressed to keep the skin in place. A tube is usually inserted to drain any excess fluids that will collect for a day or so after the procedure. Patients may experience some swelling and discomfort; but medication can alleviate these symptoms. Stitches are usually removed five to 10 days. The specifics, duration and anaesthesia (general or local) will vary according to individual needs.
Breast Lift
A breast lift, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Breast lifts can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Breast implants inserted in conjunction with the lift can increase both their firmness and their size. Stitches are usually located around the areola in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipple area, and along the lower crease of the breast. After the surgery the patient has to wear an elastic bandage or surgical bra over gauze dressings.
The breasts will be swollen, bruised, and uncomfortable for a day or two; there may be some pain but it shouldn’t be severe. Medication prescribed by the surgeon will usually be enough to make the patient comfortable. This an invasive surgical procedure.
Stretch Marks Removal
Carboxy therapy helps remove stretch marks, fade scars, melt fat and take years off your skin. In this procedure, a continuous stream of gently heated gas that is adjustable for added patient safety and comfort is used to treat stretch marks faster and with more dramatic results.
Carbon dioxide kills fat cells by causing them to distend. It dilates blood vessels leading to a stronger blood supply thus allowing a rush of oxygen and nutrients to the area. The extra oxygen eliminates fluid build-up between cells, and the skin is stimulated to produce more collagen. As a result only fewer fat cells are left and skin is firmer and younger. Carboxytherapy is a relatively painless, in-office procedure that is completed quickly.
Restylane/Perlane
Restylane is a gel injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds. Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance already present in your body.
Once in the skin, Restylane works by creating volume. Some dermal filler are derived from animal substances. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is non-animal. These are lunch-time procedures which are relatively painless, are of short duration and the patient can get back to normal life without any delay.
