IN PASSING
Salman Khan unplugged
He couldn’t care less what you think of him; also be forewarned once an enemy always an enemy. That’s Salman Khan unplugged. But Khan insists most people don’t know him and usually don’t bother. “If you are only interest
ed in breaking news and making headline, I shy away,” remarked Khan His Bollywood spats with some co-stars are legend. What is also well-known is that if the rift is too wide he is not going to kiss and make up. But amid all the controversies, there is always a story about the actor’s heart of gold. Tell him and he shrugs it off modestly. “I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.” But of late Khan is excited because, finally, he is scripting a movie in which is he plays a sword-wielding horse-riding strong character. “I wrote the script earlier but it wasn’t feasible then because of its vast canvas. Now things have changed so it s possible.” Khan doesn’t rule out becoming a director in the future. “One never knows; I may do this later as a full time job,” quipped Khan
It’s her show
Forget the earlier no shows, it’s her year now. Suddenly posters with actor Priyanka Chopra seem to be plastered all over town. And as if that were not enough, open any magazine or tabloid, she’s in interview mode. So despite the negative
s, 2008 is her year; at least to date. “I can’t dwell on the past. I have to move on,” she says about her past choices. “Look I am proud of the films I signed up for. I don’t do films only for money; for that there are ad films. This is about creativity. I love doing different films because I tend to get bored with similar roles. Of course when things don’t work out it hurts like mad. This is a demanding job and, after so much hard work, not getting the desired results is tough. But one has to move on and concentrate on the next film,” said Chopra. In an industry where competition is rife, Chopra said she does not mind competition. “I enjoy the challenges and, right now, am looking forward to my next two big releases.” Said the actor. And if these hit the jackpot, Chopra’s smiling face will be staring out of every billboard.
Man of few words
Ajay Devgan is a man of few words. Conversation pits are not easy for him and he avoids the media and its relentless glare until it is absolutely necessary. Talking about his next directorial venture, Devgan said it was taking longer than anticipated
because the film was supposed to be “technically perfect and on par with international standards.” He added, “That does take time. Apart from Kajol and me, there are no other real characters in that film.” But Devgan is not worried. He’s hoping for a good response to his new film “Golmaal Returns” and acknowledges that, in “U Me aur Hum”, he “tried to play safe in the first half. Hopefully I won’t make that mistake again I don’t think its a good idea to hold back” he remarked . Meanwhile he’s happy about the way things have shaped up and the fact that he’s able to spend a fair amount of time with his family. “I am after all a family man, however private,” said he.
