Is it a sign of finally growing up, when an actor steps into the cameo role of a producer? Saif Ali Khan may not know the answer to that yet, but with his maiden production waiting in the wings for release next month, Khan is certainly a changed man. “Production is like going to war,” said he, “We take this army of people to shoot and they have to fight so many hardships to get the right shot,” he added. But that is not all, Khan not only decided to
produce a film, but also acted in it. Did it bother him to change hats on set? “No not really I don’t think it bothered my acting at all in fact,” said Khan. “I was told by the director, that while on the set I could not be a producer and I must forget that role completely. I listened to him.” He concedes he is a changed person after this experience. “I feel more responsible now and know what its like to be on the other side,” he added. Well that should have Bollywood producers nodding in affinity. Here’s another actor joining the fraternity and realising that producing a film is serious business.

Business cum pleasure?
Deepika Padukone continues to remain an understated actor. But she fully sympathises with others of her ilk who are perhaps a lot more expressive of their personal lives. Said, Padukone when asked about her relationship with beau Ranbir Kapoor and whether she would like to be paired only with him “Ranbir and I do not push for each other professionally. If a filmmaker wants to cast us together its fine and we’d be happy to consider it. But otherwise we keep our
personal and professional lives separate.” Padukone, who is waiting for the release of her film, said that she was “as nervous this time round as I was when my first film was due. There are butterflies in my stomach all over again.” However the actor who is known to keep her cool and remain grounded in the most trying situations finally refuses to buckle under any pressure. “It’s a question of mind over matter,” said she insisting that this too was a passing phase.
