A CROWN of beautiful hair makes heads turn.
But to take proper care of tresses, it is essential to posses some basic know-how about hair.
To know the type of hair one possesses, you can find it out with the help of a tissue paper.
Take a tissue paper and press it on the centre of the head and behind the ears, on hair that has been shampooed a day before. If you find oil on it, it means you have oily hair. If not, your hair is dry. A tissue paper test combined with a careful look at the hair can tell the type of hair you possess.
Usually a person with normal skin possesses normal hair. Likewise a person with dry skin possesses dry hair. People with an oily head and dry ends have combination hair.
Tips on hair care
Eat plenty of protein rich foods. Cut down on fried, starchy and sugary foods. Wash hair once a week with a shampoo. Trim hair every four or five weeks to get rid of split ends . Always use soft nylon brush or comb. Do not use elastic bands to tie your hair.
After turning forty, oil your hair once a week. It will rejuvenate the hair. Never brush hair when it is wet and avoid back brushing it. Massage the hair at least once a week to enhance blood circulation and blood supply to hair roots. Condition it once a week, to lessen the harsh effects of the sun, pollution and other damaging agents. Conditioner should be applied only to hair ends.
Never over wash hair because this strips it of natural oils.
After a swim, rinse salt water or chlorine out of your hair completely. Then shampoo and condition it without fail.
For a correct brushing action, hold head down and brush hair away from the head. While brushing tilt your head forward to increase the blood supply towards it. Brushing distributes the hair's natural oils along the hair length. Never use brush with sharp teeth.
If using a comb, use a wide toothed one especially for combing wet hair.
A little extra care will help you restore bounce and gloss to your crowning glory.
