Ask no whys

NICOLE KIDMAN is being seen in all these dark dire movies - as Virginia Woolf in The Hours, as the fugitive in Danish director Lars von Trier's depression era tale Dogville and now recently as the doomed love in the adaptation of Philip Roth's The Human Stain. While speculation is rife about the films being a result of Kidman's painful divorce and miscarriage, the actress insists there is no easy answer. As she explains she is following Philip Roth's advice of eliminating "why in conversations." The fiery haired lovely has come to the conclusion that "once you start to eliminate why, then it doesn't matter."
