A starry get-together

Film star Chiranjeevi and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar being given a warm reception at the hotel.

Visakhapatnam played host to the hottest stars from Tollywood and Indian cricket team recently. Stars like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh from the Telugu film industry and cricket stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, V.V.S. Laxman and Virendra Sehwag descended on this celebrity-starved city to play a charity match that was organised by the Andhra Cricket Association and MAA TV.

Cricketers and film stars come from two different professions but they shared one thing in common. They all stayed and enjoyed the warm hospitality of Hotel Green Park.

The hotel was the centre of all activity during their short stay. Not only the security personnel with sniffer dogs and metal detectors swarmed the place but fans made a beeline to the hotel to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars. Even the management of the hotel dressed up all its departments to give their best to the star-studded party.

`Sachin was simply surprised when we served him his favourite dish, stuffed crabs and squids, for dinner. To make them feel at home we had done a little homework like what are their favourite dishes and on what type of equipments they like to workout. As most of the present film stars and cricketers are fitness freaks we installed a few equipments like treadmill and power cycles for use in their rooms," the general manager of the hotel, K.V. Madhu Nair, said.

The visitors' book of the hotel is full of superlatives in praise of their services. "Good job keep it up", was what Sachin had written and Chiru quoted, " I enjoyed to the fullest."

"We have been receiving celebrities on and off but so many and that too the leading ones in the country together was for the first time. The hotel staff is all pepped up with the visit of the stars and is all set to give their best to the customers," says Nair.
