The Company Chef

THEY'LL come home and set up a live pasta counter for you (a choice of pastas and sauces) and executive chef Sant Kumar Singh will cook them up the way you like them. Interesting salads like the egg Currimbhoy, wild rice, eggplant and Moroccan couscous is on the menu too. Of course, if your tastes run to Indian fare, then you can take your pick from crab masala, biryanis, mutton dum biryani and more — a large and varied menu to choose from. Turns out that chef Sant Singh also has a repertoire of Thai food, which I still have to try. Having worked with the Taj and with some great chefs (Cyrus Todiwala, Ananda Solomon, Urbano Rego), chef Sant Singh is also the executive chef of the Sindoori Hotel, which is well known for its "East India Company" restaurant and is a part of the Apollo Sindoori Hospitals/ Hotel group. Their outdoor catering "The Company Chef" has special vans and caters from a minimum of 50 to over 5000 persons as well. Advance notice needed for the European food. Rs. 250 per head upwards.

The Sindoori Hotel, 26/27 Poonamallee High Road, Ph: 25382322.

So next time you are in a mood to go lavish and splurge on a party for a special occasion and want a live pasta counter, a shawarma machine, crockery, cutlery all taken care of, you can concentrate on celebrating that special occasion, you know who to call. They'll even bring out the cake with sparklers and sing "Happy birthday". After all, a golden birthday is a very special one.

THANKS EVER so much for all your calls and e-mails. They really do keep me plugged to the foodie network of this magnificent city. Will try and carry all your messages as soon as I can. That's a promise.
