Bowled over

Kapil's maiden venture on small screen.

HIS STINT with the camera and make-up started with "Palmolive da jawab nahin". All along, he has had a host of modelling assignments, and now we will soon see cricketer Kapil Dev in CID, a serial on Sony Television. A brand ambassador for Sony, Kapil plays a sportsman in two episodes in this detective. His role revolves around a sportsman, caught unawares when cops find a gun in his golf bag. While the innocent victim is subjected to the rigours of law, the psychological turmoil that the sportsman experiences is what Kapil was happy to emote and said: "I know what it can be to be falsely accused." Kapil is candid about his childhood dreams of becoming a Dharmendra or a Dilip Kumar, and we're told he is having a ball donning this role too (besides his interviews with celebrities for the channel). However, it's a categorical "No" to taking up acting seriously, as Kapil says he is cut out only for sports. And more than that, he quips: "My daughter will have a good laugh when she sees me acting!"
