POOL blast

Try your luck at billiards on the Net if you aren't good on the table.

Geet Sethi: Net cues

IWAY, THE cybercafe chain from Sify Limited, the internet, networking, and e-commerce services company, flagged off its second annual online pool tournament — the iway Pool Blast — in the first week of the month. The preliminary round is on till October 8. The knockout round is from October 12, and the finals, on October 19.

The tournament is being held in the seven cities of Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh.

"The iWay Pool Blast" has secured endorsement by seven times world billiards champion Geet Sethi who was at the Sify iWay outlet on Residency Road on September 13 to meet participants who took on him online.

Mr. Sethi will give away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.

A home theatre system and a cue autographed by Mr. Sethi will be presented to the national winner. Winners from the city will get MP3/VCD/CD discman, and the winners of The Geet Sethi Challenge will get iWay T-Shirts and caps, and a congratulatory letter from Mr. Sethi.

The tournament is open to iWay members only at a registration fee of Rs. 10.

The game is formatted in three rounds: in the preliminary round, players are free to play any number of times with people of their choice; the knockout round will have 16 players selected from each city, and in the final round, one winner from each city will be selected. The finalists will play best of five matches against each other and the finalist with the highest score will be the winner.
