A crime thriller
SUSHMITA SEN is back with "Samay" where she plays ACP Malavika Chauhan, a no-nonsense police officer assigned to solve the mystery behind the murder of an industrialist. Directed by debutant Robby Grewal, an ad filmmaker, it is a tailor-made role for Sushmita. "Samay" is believed to be inspired by the Denzel Washington-Angelina Jolie starrer "The Bone Collector". Sushant Singh, the villain in Ramgopal Varma's "Jungle" and "Darna Mana Hai", assists her in the investigation.
Sushmita is trying to find her way back into the action mode with this psychological drama, which was initially planned with a male star. Sandeep Chowta has provided a peppy fast number "Laila... .", picturised on a London model that is already topping the charts.
