Aamir: on the strike again

AFTER HOGGING the limelight with Lagaan, and later with some sprightly soft drink ads, especially the ones during World Cup telecast, Aamir Khan was low key for a while. As the industry wasn't able to accept this from an actor who had nothing less than an Oscar nomination behind him, the silence was attributed to his disturbed domestic life.

No sooner did the tide settle down than there was yet another turbulence. This time the spotlight was on Aamir's alleged links with Jessica Hines, the writer who was on work in India to feature Aamir and the making of his magnum opus in her book. So what, argued crores of his fans. After all, isn't this his personal life? The professional lull is over, they say with Aamir recently signing up Ketan Mehta's 1857- The Uprising, another mega venture.

Not just that, playing the revolutionary Mangal Pandey, who follows principled vegetarianism on reel, Aamir is all set to adopt Mangal's stance in real life too. A smart move!
