Grab this crab


AN EASY to make crab masala recipe that will have you cooking it every other day.

Ingredients
Crabs- 2
Onions sliced- 1
Shallots sliced- 50 gms
Ginger julienne- 20 gms
Garlic julienne- 20 gms
Green chillies slit- 4
Curry leaves- 1 sprig
Tomato quartered- 2
Coriander powder- 2 tsp
Chilli powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Crushed black pepper- 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder- 1/4 tsp
Coconut oil- 50 ml
Coconut milk-100 ml
Kokum- 2
Salt- to taste

Method

Clean the crab, cut into medium sized pieces and crush the claws. Boil it with ginger; curry leaves, kokum, turmeric powder and salt. Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, gingers, green chillies, curry leaves, onions and shallots. Sauté well. When it is golden brown, add coriander, chilly and turmeric powder and cook till it loses the raw flavour. Add crab along with water, kokum and the spices with tomato quarters. Mix well. Reduce the gravy and add crushed pepper and fennel powder. Lastly add coconut milk to the done crab. Check seasoning. The crabs should be coated with the masala. Serve hot with appams.
