A sailor's love story

"EYARKAI", A film starring Shaam directed by S.P. Jaganathan is creating waves among the preview audience. It is an engrossing story about a sailor who comes to a port and falls in love with a local girl. But she is waiting for another sailor who has been reported missing at sea. The highlight is the climax, which is strange, intriguing and riveting. Shaam teamed up with a new girl Radhika comes as a pleasant surprise. "Eyarkai" benefits from the luminous visuals of Port Blair and the Tuticorin coast etched by cameraman Ekambaran. The sets look authentic especially the lighthouse created by Sabu Cyril and his assistant Selvan. But what is baffling is why should such a love story be released for Diwali with four big-budget action movies?
