High hopes

CAN VIJAY churn out a hit this Deepavali? The year so far has been his worst as his last two releases sank without a trace at the box-office. However, the buzz on "Tirumalai" directed by debutant Ramanna is positive. The producer Kavitaalaya, which has given "Saamy" the biggest hit of the year, is confident that "Tirumalai" will be different from the usual Vijay films.

Vijay plays a mechanic and is once again paired with Jyothika after "Kushi", a blockbuster. According to producer Pushpa Kandaswamy: "Tirumalai" is not a run-of-the-mill mass entertainer. There is not too much heroism infused into the plot and Vijay fans are going enjoy the film. There is enough action, exotic locations and great comedy by Vivek". Kiran makes a special appearance in a dance number to add glamour and the music of Vidyasagar is already topping the charts.
