Dazzled, simply dazzled!

THERE ARE evenings that promise to be dazzling but end up as damp squibs. One such arduous dusk to dark exercise was performed at Aastha of Swarn Gems Private Limited, which claims to be India's first exclusive showroom of Nakshatra and Asmi diamond jewellery, this past week. The event, which was supposed to start with a press meet at 5 p.m., started two hours late with a fashion show, where the emphasis was on bodies rather than the jewels. Even if one considers this as a trend or a demand of times, the so-called beauties were shoddy to say the least. With dirt marks far too obvious on the inept and curve free figures, one rued the first row experience all through.

Then there was an emcee, who floundered with the words as well as the mike but kept on coming again and again with new pearls giving you a run for your time. The music was crude, straight from a Ramsay production and even that kept on going off air putting one to the unalloyed sound of arrhythmic heels.

Whatever may be the good intentions of the owner, Ashok K. Jain, his public relation guys let him and the world famous Diamond Promotion Services (formerly De Beers), which owns the twin brands, down.

The festive season, meanwhile is keeping the jewellers busy as Khanna Jewellers launched their new range of Amaris diamond collection.
